If we can get serious here for just a minute folks,
This is a difficult time for hockey fans and we here at HH believe people have a right to be upset, but there is a right way and a wrong way to go about that. We do not condone personal threats towards anyone, whether they be players or affiliates of the league (this includes Gary Bettman) or simply fellow Tumblr users. Please be respectful of other people’s opinions whether they are mad as hell at everyone involved or believe that there is some overreaction going on. We have already seen several cases of friendships being ruined over this and the lockout has not even been going for 24 hours. Everyone has a different relationship with the sport and therefore everyone is going to have their own way of coping with the situation whether it be following the AHL more or burning every jersey they own. We would just like to sincerely ask our followers to do the following things
- Don’t point the finger towards any one party involved in the negotiations. They all played a part in this and it is all of their responsibilities to resolve it. Getting into an “Us vs Them” mentality benefits no one.
- Don’t make sweeping generalizations about the players, owners, other fans, or even Bettman. They are all individuals and even if each group is presenting a “united front” that doesn’t mean every member is thinking the same way.
- Remember that there are a lot of real people ranging from stadium workers to broadcasters whose jobs and livelihoods are at risk.
- Have faith that this will be resolved as soon as possible, even if it seems like a lost cause.
We are all hockey fans and we all want to see our teams playing again, but bickering and acting like children toward one another isn’t going to solve anything. If you want to be angry, you have every right to be, but please use your anger in a constructive way and don’t misdirect it towards the wrong people.
We are all going to get through this. It may seem like the end of the world for some, and we don’t blame them for feeling that way, but we all just have to be patient and hope for the best. It may take some time but when the NHL returns we will all have a reason to celebrate, so keep your heads up because this will be over before we know it.
